Jo Malone
Joanne Lesley Malone CBE, born on 5 November 1963, is a British perfumer and entrepreneur who has founded three companies: Jo Malone London, Jo Loves, and Jo Vodka. She grew up in a council house in Bexleyheath, South East London. Malone had severe dyslexia and left school at the age of thirteen to care for her mother, who had suffered a stroke. Despite these early challenges, she went on to build one of the most recognizable names in the fragrance industry.
Malone founded Jo Malone London in 1990 and sold the company to Estee Lauder Companies in 1999 for an undisclosed sum. In 2011, she launched a new fragrance venture, Jo Loves, through which she has created fragrances including Black Vetyver Cafe, Blue Agava and Cacao, and 154 Cologne. Her contributions to business and the fragrance industry have been recognized with an MBE in 2008 and a CBE in 2018. In 2015, she appeared as a castaway on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs.
