Olivier Polge
Olivier Polge (born July 30, 1974) is a French perfumer and the house perfumer for Chanel. The son of perfumer Jacques Polge, who served as Chanel's perfumer for 37 years, Olivier initially aspired to become a classical music pianist before turning to fragrance. He studied art history and began his career at Charabot, a factory in his hometown of Grasse specializing in the processing of perfumery ingredients, then joined ACM in Geneva. From 1998 onwards, he worked at International Flavors & Fragrances in New York City, returning to France in 2003 while remaining with IFF. During this period, he created notable fragrances including Dior Homme in 2005 and co-created Viktor and Rolf's Flowerbomb.
In 2009, Olivier Polge won the International Perfume Prize for five of his creations, with the prize presented to him by William Christie. In 2012, he collaborated with perfumers Dominique Ropion and Anne Flipo to create La Vie Est Belle for Lancome. Polge became a perfumer at Chanel in 2013 and took over as head perfumer following his father's retirement in 2015. At Chanel, his creations have included Misia, Boy, No. 5 L'Eau, and Bleu de Chanel Parfum (2018). Among his other notable works are Anniversary and Eau Mega.
