Designer Kenzo Takada established this Japanese-born fashion house in 1970. After studying at Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo, where he was among the institution's earliest male enrollees, Takada relocated to Paris in 1964. Six years later, he opened his inaugural Parisian boutique, Jungle Jap. Takada is widely credited with introducing Japanese fashion sensibilities to a global audience. His creations weave together traditional Japanese design principles with motifs drawn from the natural world and a rich multicultural tapestry of influences.
